Choosing a Topic for your Macroeconomics Essay
Choosing your macroeconomics essay topics does not have to be frustrating. There are several timeless and timely topics that are interesting to write and read. Since macroeconomics topics are always changing, there is always something new to discuss. These are a few possible topics for macroeconomics essays:
- The effects of major corporations paying low wages
- The housing slump: When will the recovery take hold?
- Hyperinflation in developing countries
- Ditching the credit cards and buying with cash/debit
- The effects of the Greek financial troubles on the rest of Europe
- The cost of health insurance on the American public
- Disasters on Wall Street
- Shadow economies
- Legalizing marijuana and the effects on local and state economics
- Bailing out General Motors
- Emerging economies: India, China, and Brazil
- The bitcoin
- Freelancing and the economy
- How to pay for education
- Interest rates and student loans
- The Great Recession: A few years later
- The costs of outsourcing
- Deflation vs Inflation
- Professional athletics and world economies
- The cost of cleaning industrial pollution
- Facebook and world economics
When you choose a topic, you should begin by looking for a topic that you are interested in studying. Your topic should be something you can research and then write about in a persuasive manner. These topics, as well as many others, all have several angles that could be argued. For example, if you were to discuss the General Motors, you could discuss whether or not you thought it was a good idea based on the facts that you gather. You could discuss different options the United States Government could have exercised instead of the bailout. You could also discuss what could have happened if the government did not bail out the immensely important corporation.
The Approach is More Important than the Topic
While the topic is important, the approach that you take is more important. You can make or break a topic just by the angle you choose. Professors and teachers enjoy reading papers that have a unique angle and strong support. If you have a good thesis and you can support it, then you should be able to write a strong essay. Developing a strong thesis really does depend on the quality of the topic you choose. Whether you choose a newer topic, like Bitcoin, or you pick an older topic like The Great Depression, you should be able to craft a timely paper that can be supported by modern data.

Hi Ella-I'm so glad you wanted to work hard on your school project. I have five children, and my youngest has just learned this year how much fun it is to work even harder than your teacher expects. I hope you will come back for more ideas.

Hi Donna--Yes, I'm really interested in the 3-D printing idea. I had a student in my class this semester who knew someone who worked for a 3-D company which would allow you to design anything and then sell it online. If someone wanted to buy it, they can, and the company would then create it on their 3-D printer and ship it off! Amazing! There is actually a TEDD talk by the man who is developing the 3-D printer for organs and body parts. I didn't include it in the article because it is less interesting at the beginning, and I thought it would not capture a person's attention as well, but it you are interested, you might want to check it out.

Great current event topics! I saw a TV segment on 3d printers. It is pretty amazing what they can copy. The video you posted about the next possibility being copying body parts and organs is incredible!
